My work life is still a bit hectic, with more appointments as usual, so patchwork is on a hold. But I finally got to start the Skill Builder BOM blocks. I have pieced the first 6 blocks, haven’t decided yet on the quilting design. I suppose there is no hurry. Got the backing fabric – a wonderful flowery design in a rich orange, wadding is waiting on the shelf. Wednesday is a public holiday, so I shall have time for quilting.
Fire and Ice quilt top has sat in the cupboard for a few months. Since it has rained for a few days (very unusual for this time of year), I got it out and made a quilt sandwich. Once more this top has a floral backing fabric – with tulips.
Lots to quilt – my days will be “quilty” busy, looking forward to that.
Thanks for visiting, have a nice week, Barbora
I love the star block! They all look great though. How are you planning to quilt your fire and ice?

Thanks for stopping. I finished quilting Fire & Ice with the walking foot – a serpentine/wave stitch. It breaks a bit the squares. Hope to finish binding over the weekend and upload a photo!

wow! nice job on colors and piecing! My Mom and my sister just started one for me. All I did was pick the fabric…but that was fun.

Picking fabric and deciding on colors is a hard job – you have to decide what you would like. Sometimes is not so easy to pick the fabrics – there are so many to choose from!

Absolutely love your color combination on your new blocks…..would you mind sharing the colors you are using. I am a new quilter at age 70 & am a little color challenged to say the least. So glad I signed up for your website…Thanks again for your insight! Watching you from California, USA, Nancy

Hi Nancy, thanks for stopping. It is never too late to start with quilting. For my blocks I choose Kona Solids by Robert Kaufmann in yellow/orange, purple, light green and turquoise hues. My favorites, I always like to work with bright colors. Greetings from Spain, Barbora
