new quilt, 4 blocks and the design wall

Even though I haven’t posted for some time, I have done some homework.

  • I have finally decided on the design of my next quilt using the wonderful Bella collection from Lotta Jansdotter. I have had the fabric in my sewing room for some time and now I know exactly what to make with it.

  • My other project  (at the moment just on my computer) was inspired by 4 basic blocks on my design wall :

block games

Here are some quilt designs based on the blocks :

Each of the 9 quilt designs transmits a totally different atmosphere. I have used just 2 colors to underline the diverse block layout. I only need to decide which design approaches me the most, think about the color palette and start sewing!

So there is lot to do and no time to get bored, thanks for stopping,

Barbora

This is a fantastic block. You should do a tutorial on making it.

Thanks for your comment and your suggestions. I am abroad for the next few days and I have another quilt in work. But when I start the diagonal log cabin block quilt I shall write a tutorial.

I love blocks like this, blocks that reverse the colors. The middle row appeals to me most; once I figured out what was different between the first and third, I like the left one better. (I know, you didn’t ask. ) 🙂 I’ll be interested to see which you choose and how it works out.

I am happy to hear from my readers and learn their opinions and suggestions. Actually my favorite design is also the one on the left in the middle row. The zigzags are longer and wider. I think this will be my project for autumn!

Thanks a lot! Basically I pieced 2 color reversed log cabin blocks, pinned them right sides together, sewed on the diagonal (like HST) and cut. I need to practice piecing the blocks (to have matching seams) before I select the final quilt design.
