My last post was in 2014, but this doesn’t mean that I had a quilting free time. I have finished the Horizon top and it is ready for quilting. So this will be my project of the next few weeks. I haven’t decided yet how to quilt it, but it will be straight lines with the walking foot.
My first finish in 2015 is a Drunkard’s Path Quilt #2 for Joan. Once more the Wedding Ring or Love Ring block design. I like how the colors came out – I specially like the combination of rich yellow and soft purple.
Quilt size : 84″ x 84″ / 213 x 213 cm
Block size : 28″ x 28″ / 71 x 71 cm
Another quilt in QAYG technique. I have quilted all nine blocks separately and joined them together with home-made bias strips.
My next new project will be some pillow covers – I need to make something smaller!! I have set my eye on a charm pack from Moda Fabrics Persimmon. The color range is very soft, not exactly my normal choice. But why not try something else!?

Hi Barbara, lovely colourful quilts you have here. Thank you for your comment on my blog, I couldn’t easily reply as you are a no-reply blogger. Yes I do my wavy line quilting with a walking foot. I just gently guide the quilt left to right. First off I mark a straight line across the quilt and then snake my way along the quilt using the line as a guide to keep the wavy line horizontal. Its very easy and I love the texture. For my last quilt I marked lines about 2″ apart, then after those were quilted I did another row of wavy lines between each line – the second pass is much faster because all the basting pins have already been removed.

Hi Sarah, thanks for the info. I have used on a few quilts the wavy stitch on the bernina, but it is very regular. I shall try quilting “free hand” with the walking foot.

Variety is fun: big pieces, small pieces; bright colors, pastel colors. Both quilts are quite attractive. I can see why you are ready for a small project.

Sometimes when I put fabrics for a quilt together, I can’t see the result clearly. This was one of those “wonky” combinations, but I do like it.
