Finally a finished quilt! I had this baby quilt top some time on my to-do list. I have used jelly roll strips from the Horizon collection by Kate Spain. The quilt design is with bento box blocks, here a pattern for a table runner bento box. I have pieced 12 blocks to make this quilt that is ideal for a baby or toddler. As the blocks are so square I decided to give the quilt a finishing touch with waves. I call the quilting design free-style waves – using the walking foot but with some deliberate movements in the wave design. The binding is in solid lime.
Quilt size : 36″ x 48″
Block size : 12″ x 12″ bento box
Quilting thread : COTTY Cotton Thread Key Lime Variegated 30wt, 9343-4017
Until next time, happy sewing, Barbora
Hi Barbora! This is really beautiful! Like summer and sea! Funny that I see now many bento box quilts. The secret project I’m working on now, was supposed to be with bento box. But then my plan changed (as so often) because it didn’t work with one special fabric I chose to use. Have a great weekend! x Teje

Love the lime green binding and the different colors of blue on the back.

The lime matches the color in the fabrics and somehow I like to use solids for binding.

Hi Annett, this quilting style was new to me and I enjoyed it. Something between straight lines and free motion quilting. I shall definitely come back to it in the future!

I love the bento-box block and I love your colors. The wave quilting is perfect. Lucky child who gets it.
