another quilt finished : lollipop III and 2 pillow covers

Once more a very busy week not only at work but also on the quilting side. I have finished the Lollipop III quilt with 2 matching pillow covers. So instead of writing lots of words I shall post some photos :

Today I had a hard time taking a few shots, the sun was shining but the wind was quite strong and the quilt was very lively. Both other photos were taken indoors and the colors are a bit different.

And the pillow covers backing is with my favorite fabric :

more swoons and a new lollipop quilt

I haven’t posted for some time. But this does not mean that I had a lazy week. I have cut, pieced and made a sandwich for quilting the next Lollipop quilt. This time it will be once more straight line quilting with the walking foot in vertical, horizontal and diagonal directions.

Over the weekend I also made 2 pillow covers with the swoon block design for Kate.

a week with pillows

The last I was busy sewing different pillow covers – for a client, for my Mum and finishing the two swoon blocks also into a pillow cover. I decided for straight line quilting with the walking foot. Here the blue swoon :

It was pleasure making these blocks. Maybe one day I shall make a full size quilt.

Anyway, there was some more work for me : Mary asked me to help her finish the Star Gaze quilt. And so I did it, here is the quilt.

I have new projects on the way, more next time. Happy sewing, Barbora

ordered on 2012, made in 2013 – lollipop II quilt

My first “big” quilt of 2013 is finished. It is a custom order from a client in Germany that liked my original Lollipop quilt, but wanted it wee bit larger and in orange/purple hues. I have suggested to use fabrics from the Notting Hill collection by Joel Dewberry in magenta. Wonderful fabrics and the colors are just fantastic. Size : 153 x 213 cm / 60″ x 94″.

This time it was straight line quilting in horizontal, vertical and diagonal directions using the walking foot. A nice to change to free-motion quilting.

The backing and binding are finished using in the same orange fabric.

I have made 2 blocks from the Swoon pattern. They will make a cushion cover for my Mum.

saturday agenda change and WIP

Saturday is normally our shopping day. First we visit the street market in Almoradi, have a nice coffee and a second breakfast in a café bar and then do the grocery shopping in a nearby supermarket. So far so good. We have done the same this Saturday and as we came back at midday the wind grew slowly stronger. And then came a gust – but what a gust. The rain didn’t come down, it was pushed horizontally by the wind. In these 1-2 minutes my husband’s amateur radio antenna came down.

Luckily with help of 2 friends the antenna got sorted out and Helmut can now start with new antenna designs. The tower needs some work, but all is manageable and shall be done next week. Instead of working on my quilts I helped to clear the antenna “disaster” and did a lot of sweeping around the house. I didn’t know that pine trees can have so many needles that fall down.

I have some unfinished stuff and I am working hard to get it done :

  1. Second quilt for my mum’s armchair and some new cushion covers for the living room
  2. Blocks for a new quilt – using The Birds and The Bees Collection from Tula pink
  3. Custom quilt with a Pinwheel design – using Notting Hill Collection by Joel Dewberry
  4. Preparing the Swoon pattern for a quilt as you go project
  5. And not to forget my UFOs, that I want to finish this year (need to find them as they are well hidden in the closet)
