A quilt named Lollipop and a new stash

A lot of time has passed since writing the last post. We have had my husbands niece Andrea on holidays. And this was all about a lazy week with visits to the beach, ice-cream and restaurants and not to forget some girlie shopping. There are not only sales going on but also the new collections for fall/winter have arrived in the shops. So in between the light summer clothes you can find now the heavy wool pullovers – and the feeling that summer is over very soon.

I have also been in Prague to visit my parents and afterwards went to Germany, Bonn to stay with my husband’s family. Here some impressions from my trip :

Since coming back I also had a 3 months check in the hospital and everything is OK. This is really great!!

Lollipop Quilt is finally finished and posted on Etsy and Dawanda SOLD !!

Quilt size :  43″ x 64″ ( 110 x 162 cm ) approx.

And of course a new stash has arrived from USA : Little Folks Voile in Berry from Anna Maria Horner. This is my style : fabric in bright colors, all together there are 13 different patterns and I am looking forward to work with this soft new material.

Well it is time to start again with a new project, untill then Barbora

Successful Week

Well, well, well, one more quilt is finished. It got the name SUGAR ‘N SPICE as it has nearly all the colors of the rainbow. And just imagine all the tastes we can enjoy between sweet sugar and hot spice.

The quilt fabrics are a combination of Pure Elements by Patricia Bravo and  Innocent Crush by Anna Maria Horner. I have added some blue and turquoise hues from my stash to round-up the color palette.

I have listed this quilt both on my Etsy and Dawanda  shops. SOLD !!

My first advertising has finally been put up. My boss let me some space in front of the office and my patchwork ad is beside the construction ad.

From my point of view this week was succesful –            a finished quilt and advertising in its place!!

Since the family has left and is now in Barcelona, I have more work waiting for me. The extra bedroom is now free for basting and so the Bazaar Style top shall be soon prepared for quilting. I just have to sew together the backing and pinning is the next step.

Till next time, Barbora

Pink Dreams Quilt finished

The first quilt from the Barcelona stash is finished and got a new name : Pink Dreams.

It is a modern fresh design, this time with “girlie” colors and a lot of flowers and dots. I just love the fuchsia shade the flowers have and I am looking for some more bright pink fabrics to complete my stash.

This quilt is listed for sale on my Etsy and Dawanda shops.

I have really enjoyed working on this quilt. Even though it looks like a random distribution of colors and fabrics, it has a small logic behind it. I want to work more on this design and maybe make my first tutorial. I love working with graphic programs and this could be a new challenge for me. The only thing that is missing are a few more hours a day.

I have ordered fabrics in the States and now I am waiting impatiently for the postman to bring me the delivery. All these ideas that are running through my head – they want to get out and see the work done on the cutting mat and the sewing machine.

Yours impatienly waiting Barbora

Castle Peeps II and a new stash

I loved working on Castle Peeps quilt and as I had some fabric left I decided to go on and make another baby quilt. It is not finished entirely, but I can already post 2 pics:

So I need just one more hour to get this one finished and then wait for sunny weather to take some more photos. I prefer to take photos in my garden, the light is normally really nice. This spring has come with more Levante (easterly) winds and rain. And no change for the time being.

Yesterday I went to see my patchwork teacher Loles. She has a small shop in Almoradi and since 3 years she is giving patchwork and quilting lessons. This is where I started my quilting passion. I have bought a new stash that I called Barcelona as all fabrics are produced in Spain. It is a nice combination of pattern and solids and will do for a nice girl quilt. I already have an idea about the design.

Over the last weekend there was the biggest patchwork and quilting exposition in Spain in the town of Sitges just south of Barcelona. Due to my chemo treatment (on monday I had #4 of 6) I was unable to go there this year. I shall also miss the one in Prague, Czech Republic, where I have been already twice. I am actually from Prague ans I fly there at least 3 times a year to visit my parents, relatives and friends.

Well never mind, my health is at the moment my priority #1.

At this place I would also like to say thank you to my husband Helmut. We have been together now for 24 years and he is supporting and helping me very much to get through the chemo.

Helmut is a keen radio ham, this photos shows him in his small radio “lab”.

Hoping for nicer weather, untill then, Barbora

Sunny Sunday

I can’t believe it – after a week of really bad weather with rains and strong winds the sun has finally set a few bright beams on our part of the world. But according to the forecast we have more bad weather arriving later on in the day.

Scrappy Strips and Bricks Quilt if finished and listed in my Etsy shop and Dawanda shop.

————

Over the week I was thinking about a new project that is on my mind already for some months. This time using entirely solids in powerful colors and working them into  a nearly three-dimensional interwoven strip pattern. This is my first design on the computer, but I believe it will be changed a couple of times before starting the practical part of the work.

To be honest I haven’t even yet ordered the fabrics, but I have the following collection on my mind : Pure Elements from Patricia Bravo for Art Gallery.

I am looking forward to see all the vivid colors laying on the table!!!

Now I am going out to get some of the sun beams on my skin, until next time,

Barbora
