avenue loop – another quilt is finished

We had some rain over the weekend. So this was the right time to finish my Avenue Loop quilt. Somehow I got hook on half-square triangles. An easy unit, but thousands of possibilities how to finish a quilt design. Here I used Freshcut collection by Heather Bailey. Love the colors and the fabrics were nice to work with.

Size : 55″ x 69″ or 140 x 176 cm. Quilting detail of the center piece – once more meanders with loops. This time I used a white polyester quilting thread So Fine! #50 from Superior Threads.

Backing has a favorite fabric from Freshcut collection and a soft aqua hue in solid.

Double folded binding is machine stitched from front to back using the soft aqua solid fabric.

As mentioned before we have had some rain lately. The dog stayed inside :

and the cat took over his kennel and enjoyed the soft land-rain, fresh air and the peace outside :

Happy quilting………..

star gaze quilt finished

After all I have finished my last quilt project (not that there are no UFOs in the closet, a few of them is still waiting in the queue to get finished).

I designed this pattern for my patchwork classes as the ladies wanted to make a single bed quilt. An ideal beginner pattern : just 2 different blocks, accuracy in cutting and piecing the right colors together. I have enjoyed working on this quilt.

Enjoy rest of the weekend, happy stitching

new stash

The last 2 weeks have been very busy for me. Unfortunately I did not have time to work on my quilting projects or to write a new post on the blog. Today was a wonderful day, full of sunshine and blue skies. I got some time to take a few photos of my new stash. All these fabrics are sitting patiently in the cabinet waiting to be taken out and converted in a perfect quilt.

Here are my new “babies” :

1. – Bella from Lotta Jansdotter – a complete collection plus 2 matching fabrics for the backing

2.- A colorful stash for a custom quilt – I opted for fuchsia, orange, turquoise hues and a light pink fabric for the background

3.- Some fabrics for my stock, salmon in solid and my favorite polka dots in pink and orange

As next Tuesday and Friday are public holidays, I hope to catch up with my sewing. I do really miss this soothing sound of the sewing machine.

a few photos from prague

Yesterday I came back home from Prague. I sorted out the pictures I made and would like to share my impressions of the city (or the neighborhood area where I used to live). This is not far away from the castle Hradcany, but not many tourist come to see these secluded spots.

The above picture is a caption in the park Kampa, near the Moldau river. A happy guy was drinking wine and sleeping his siesta.

Whilst my stay in the Czech Republic we also went to the summer-house of my uncle Ales and I discovered a nice portrait of my grandmother painted by my grandfather.

Now it is time to get back to my patchwork and quilting projects, the sewing machine is already waiting. I also had some time for fabric shopping – more about new stash in my next post
