More scraps used! As mentioned in my previous post, I have been sorting out all my fabrics and scraps during my holidays. Did a lot of cutting, getting all fabric pieces to the same size 2,5″ x 2,5″. And I found a scrappy pattern I liked at Red Pepper Quilts : Scrappy Cross Quilt with a tutorial.

I have been guarding 2,5 ” squares for some years. Cutting always some extra squares for the box whenever I was cutting fabrics for a quilt project. Before starting this scrappy quilt, I thought how many squares I already have. But when calculating the quantity, I found out that I must cut many more squares.
The bright yellow for the crosses is Kona solids in Corn Yellow.
For the backing I have chosen a 100% cotton flat sheet from IKEA with a paisley pattern in light pink.

Quilted in diagonal with the walking foot. For quilting I have used Aurifil Mako 40/2 cotton thread, color Light Sand and I have set the stitch length to 4 mm.
I have used also the Corn Yellow Kona solid fabric for the binding. The quilt is already busy and the solid binding gives it a smooth finish.
Quilt size : 58″ x 78″ – 27 x 37 rows
Squares : 1035 pieces – cut size 2,5″ x 2,5″
Rectangles : 32 pieces – cut size 6,5″ x 2,5″
Wadding : 50% – 50% cotton – bamboo from Rosello
Quilting thread : Aurifil Mako NE 40/2 – color 2000 Light Sand
So, this is my other “square summer ” project finished. I had fun piecing this quilt, no need to think too much. Perfect for the summer heat!
On my to-do-list I still have the Summer Sampler 2019 : this one is waiting for quilting. I have to piece one more block to finish the Summer Sampler 2020. So another top prepared quilting.
Enjoy the weekend and happy quilting

I love scrap quilts because the fabrics have a special memory of their original intentions and use, right?
