more snow

Since living for so long in south-east Spain, near the Mediterranean Sea, we hardly ever see snow. In all the 20 years we had snow just once – on the mountain tops approx. 30 km in land. And it stayed only for a day. Snow is like a coin for me : on one side I am fascinated with this white layer of something magical; on the other side I hate it – it is cold and wet.

Anyway, I could not resist to take some more photos.

Hope this snow will melt quickly and warm spring will soon take over from winter!

Thanks for visiting, Barbora

from spring into snowy winter

Over the last few weeks we had some nice warm weather and sunshine, still cold at night, but spring was in the air. All this has changed in the moment I landed in Prague. I left Alicante with some nice 20-22º C in the daytime and Prague welcomed me with a fresh layer of snow and minus temperatures. I must admit that we still officially have winter – for another few days.

I am enjoying my stay here, my Mum is as happy to have me here as I am. We have a lot to do, meet family and friends, do some shopping. This time I didn’t buy any more fabrics to boost my stash. I have only brought quilting threads from Gütterman and Mettler, but in a large variety of colors. They are for practicing and learning free-motion quilting with the Skill Builder Block of the Month by Pile of Fabric. I am taking a break from sewing so that I can start with new energy when I am back at home. Hopefully my ordered fabrics have arrived by then from the UK.

Happy Sunday, thanks for stopping,

Barbora

impressions of my surroundings (when walking the dog)

Over the last few weeks we had some amazing sunrises, sunsets and cloud constellations. What nature sometimes shows us is really amazing. I rarely take my camera with me, but always have my iphone.  With the camera app  I try to capture the atmosphere and  impressions of the moment.

from a different corner

This December has been a super weather month, with lots of sunshine and warm temperatures though the daytime. I have enjoyed staying outdoors, reading a book on the terrace or working in the garden.

Looking back on 2012 – this year has been a good year for me. I am happy with what I have achieved :

  • made quilts I designed
  • got more practice and confidence in free motion quilting
  • started giving patchwork and quilting classes
  • worked on patterns (and learned how to write them)
  • got familiar with all the different threads that the market has to offer
  • shared my experience with other bloggers

Looking forward to 2013 – I would like to learn and try :

  • improvisational quilting
  • wonky blocks
  • textured blocks – here a fantastic blog with a free project by Sewn Up by TeresaDownUnder
  • and reorganize my sewing room, get a new cabinet for my fabrics

Wishing all the best for 2013, happy quilting and see you soon,

Barbora
