A scrappy churn dash quilt was on my “to do quilt list” for ages. I know I have several unfinished quilts – Radiate quilt, Summer Sampler and a few more… But I couldn’t resist to make a quilt only with classical churn dash blocks.
I got out all my boxes with diverse fabrics and also the scrappy baskets. The finished churn dash block size is 9″ x 9″, set diagonally. This must be the second time I am using a diagonal block layout. Altogether I have prepared and cut fabrics for piecing 50 blocks.
Cutting and piecing was straightforward (no wonder with my new Bernina sewing machine). I pressed open all seams, avoiding problems with nesting seams. This left me free with the block distribution and layout.
For the quilt backing, I have used bedding sheets from Laura Ashley. I found a set on sale and the price/quality was exceptional.
Quilted with a wavy pattern with the walking foot, stitch #4 on the Bernina.
For the binding I have used the same fabric as for the filler triangles on the quilt sides.

Wishing you a wonderful Easter. Here in Spain we are still in a total lockdown. We are staying at home.
Happy quilting
